<p class="MsoBodyText"
style="font-weight: bold; font-family: courier new,courier,monospace;">As
the title implies, there is something to be said about
the enigma called Ralph Nader. At the same time he is ridiculed and
chastised
and vilified, he is simultaneously given short shrift when it comes to
coverage, profile, and backrounding.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><!--[if !supportEmptyParas]-->
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Is
it possible to be at once criticized and ignored? Or is he only
relevant to the
mainstream media to the extent that he serves their purpose to portray
him as a
spoiler, while virtually ignoring the implications of his policy
directives?<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><!--[if !supportEmptyParas]-->
<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">Is
he really so dry and un-inspiring, or is the horse race more
compelling? Is it
easier for voters to wrap their collective mind around the cosmetics
than the
arguments? Maybe, yes. Maybe it is the Press who are bored, and the
public, to the contrary, have become famished and dehydrated while
“Waiting for Godot.” Or. is it "Something about Ralph?"<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--><!--[endif]--><o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14pt;">The
setting was the NPC’s Main Ballroom, upgraded from a venue one-third
its size.
In attendance, forty Print Journalists, five Photo and five TV,
including CBS
News and <a href="http://www.cspan.org">C-Span</a>, (who, to their
credit had the audio re-play on the WCSP 90.1
FM & XM Radio broadcast by 4pm).<o:p></o:p></span></p>

the mood was to be judged by the questions, those on hand were subdued,
reserved

Chavez,
if they had asked.</span><br>

“Is
it true Republicans are financing you?” asked another, (armed with a
contributor list, which is public, of course). <i>Weekend news reports

actually reported just<span style=""> </span>the

polling showed more draw to his campaign from their fold, than the

<p class="MsoBodyText2"><i><span style="font-size: 14pt;"><!--[if !supportEmptyParas]-->

there were a few Republicans, people he’d known for years, who had
