... it's a parade of trains... past a grand viewing platform.<BR>
June 2017 road trip... I made my way into Folkston, Georgia for a day of train spotting. It was a day of intermittent drizzle & rain, but that didn't dampen the action. As they say... "rain, snow, sleet or hail..." First up was CSX #9969, an EMD GP40WH-2, heading north with the Geometry Train. From there on... a steady progression of mostly unit trains running north & south... with an occasional AMTRAK interloper, leading a string of coaches. Illustrated, CSX #352, a GE AC44CW... CSX #7660, a GE C40-8W... CSX #5344, an ES44DC and CSX #574, another AC44CW... about 17,200 combined horsepower, southbound wearing 3 different periods of CSX corporate livery, at the head of a heavy load of open hopper cars. If memory serves me... it was gravel. On the far side of this view, lies the old Folkston Depot, which has been moved back from the mainline and is now the Folkston Railroad Transportation Museum. My acquaintances of the day, Skip & Robin... quite knowledgeable of operations along this racetrack, issued my official "Folkston Funnel Train Watcher License". <BR>
