... 7 interpretive illustrations of buildings with historic significance, that once stood as a part of Andrew Jackson's 1,000 plus acre, cotton plantation... a cotton gin mill, the overseer's house, slave housing consisting of a field quarters, several duplex building and one triplex... as well as a combination carriage & stable structure and an ice house. Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States, lived here with his wife, the former Rachel Donelson. Rachel (Donelson) Jackson died in the days between his election and inauguration in 1829. They are both buried on the grounds. The Jackson Mansion is the most accurate, preserved example of an early American presidential homestead. These watercolors were painted, based on archaeological research by and for the <A HREF="https://thehermitage.com/">Andrew Jackson Foundation</A>, which maintains this <A HREF="jmas410.html">National Historic Landmark Site</A>, located in Davidson County near Nashville, Tennessee. </p></TD>
