... the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway (LGSR) runs north from the old Jersey Central Station in Jim Thorpe (Mauch Chunk), Pennsylvania through Glen Onoko, Lehigh Gorge State Park and into Old Penn Haven. The LGSR excursion season, inaugarated in 1985... begins on Memorial Day and extends through the fall foliage rambles. LGSR branded locomotives and passenger coaches are maintained, owned and operated by the Reading Blue Mountain & Northern Railroad (RBMN). Illustrated... RBMN #5033 (temporarily LGSR #426... in blue & gray paint), an EMD SD50, guiding a leisurely autumn tour along the Lehigh River, southbound of the Glen Onoko Falls, crosses the skew bridge over Reading & Northern and Norfolk Southern (NS) shared double track, as northbound RBMN #3056, an EMD SD40-2 pulling a string of empty hoppers, greets southbound GP39 RBMN #2532 at the head of a full load. <BR>
