... the Reading T-1 #2124 is one of thirty, Baldwin I-10a 2-8-0 "Consolidation" locomotives, re-built and converted to a 4-8-4 "Northern"<BR> by the Reading Company at Reading's own shops in Reading, Pennsylvania between 1945 and 1947.
Reading T-1 #2124 is illustrated<BR> pulling north out of the Perkasie Tunnel on the Lansdale - Bethlehem line. I remember this engine from my youth. My mother went<BR> crazy whenever she had freshly laundered clothing, hanging out on the wash line to dry, and one of these steam engines went by.<BR> She had about 5 minutes to pull it down before the ash and cinders drifted over and began to fall.
Number 2124 currently resides<BR> at the Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, Pennsylvania. <BR>
