  long term health and success of your company may be better served by your long-term 
  employees than by the next superstar you hire.</font></p>

  are 10 tips for keeping the employees you�ve already got.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="-1"><b>1. 
  Satisfied employees know what�s expected of them.</b>&nbsp; Although job requirements 
  may change, be sure every employee knows what is expected of them.&nbsp; Reinforce 
  those expectations and don�t confuse the employee by changing them carelessly.<b>

  best opportunity for work improvement ideas is the one doing the work.&nbsp; 
  He or she must feel they can speak up in order for you to get those ideas.</font></p>

  You should identify and use the talents and skills of each employee.</b>&nbsp; 
  People will use the skills, talents, abilities and interests they have.&nbsp; 
  They <i> want</i> to use them.&nbsp; If they don�t use them with you, they will 
  somewhere else.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="-1"><b>5. 
  The perception of fairness and equitable treatment is essential.</b>&nbsp; Even 
  though you are treating employees fairly, if they don�t perceive it as fair, 
  then you�re losing them.&nbsp; Be sure that employees feel that you are fair 
  in all matters that affect them, including </font><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="-1">pay, 
  recognition, dispute resolution, performance evaluation, job assignments etc.&nbsp; 
  Bring them into the decision making process.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="-1"><b>6. 
  Provide employees with the tools, time and the training</b>.&nbsp; When an employee 
  is failing at work, first ask the W. Edwards Deming question, �What is it about 
  the work system that is causing this person to fail?�&nbsp; Explore that problem 
  first.&nbsp; What should we be doing to improve how things get done?&nbsp; Do 
  we have the right tools available?&nbsp; Did we take the time to explain and 
  prepare for this job?&nbsp; Is this person properly and confidently trained? 
  </font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="-1"><b>7. 
  Your best employees are thinking about and seeking opportunities to learn, to 
  grow their careers, increase their knowledge and to develop new skills</b>.&nbsp; 
  The good ones want to be better off next year than this year.&nbsp; They aren�t 
  working for the love of work nor just for the money.&nbsp; They want to improve 
  something in their lives and they will, with you or with someone else.&nbsp; 
  Let them know how they can do those things within your company.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="-1"><b>8. 
  Make employees feel that they are part of what�s going on</b>.&nbsp; The number 
  one reason employees leave during the first 90 days, is that they never assimilated 
  into the group or the environment.&nbsp; They came in as outsiders and stayed 
  that way.&nbsp; Assign someone to mentor and buddy-up with each new employee.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="-1"><b>9. 
  Never use looming disaster to threaten or scare employees.&nbsp; </b> �If we 
  don�t get this contract we won�t be in business long.�&nbsp; If we keep losing 
  money on these jobs I�m going to have to lay some people off.�&nbsp; Such comments 
  can scare employee off.&nbsp; Don�t use company failure as a scare tactic to 
  motivate employees.&nbsp; Once the ship sounds like it�s going to sink, the 
  smart people will start looking for the lifeboats.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="-1"><b>10. 
  Recognize employee effort and achievement.</b>&nbsp; When someone does a good 
  job or has a good idea, say so, publicly.&nbsp; Rewards, recognition, bonuses 
  and gifts solidify that recognition.&nbsp; Everyone likes recognition for his 
  or her efforts.&nbsp; Employees seek it.&nbsp; They will find it wherever it 
  is.</font></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="-1">Once 
  you�ve recruited and planted that new seed and then oriented, trained, worked 
  with, established relationships and developed it, don�t let someone else pick

          outsourcing bad?&nbsp; Many people see it as the ultimate evil but to 
          see outsourcing only as sending our high paying jobs to India for cheap 
          labor is not the story.</font></p>
        <p class="MsoNormal"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="-1">Considering 
          the number of jobs that are outsourced to the U.S. and that most of 
          the jobs we outsource are repetitive digital transmissions and telephonic 
          response, real outsourcing means finding more efficient, productive, 
          accurate and cost effective ways of doing the job, and that�s how the 
          U.S. is today still leading the world in the global economy.&nbsp;&nbsp;

          all this trouble just to hire a cheaper, non-uniformed attendant?&nbsp; 
          Actually, the Colorado attendant makes more money then the one being 
          replaced.&nbsp; No, its about efficiency and productivity, it cuts the 
          time from order to delivery by almost half.&nbsp; Over the day it can 
          cut down on the lines and the accumulating waiting time.&nbsp; And its 
          about accuracy in that it cuts mistakes by about half.&nbsp; And its 
          profitable as the Colorado service provider gets a small transaction 
          fee paid by the McDonald�s owner.</font></p>

          service provider in Colorado?&nbsp; That�s another McDonalds franchise 
          owner who invented the system for his own restaurant and now does the 
          order processing for the McDonald�s in MO.&nbsp; He also does it for 
          a McDonald�s in Norwood Mass and yet another in Brainerd, Minn.&nbsp; 
          McDonald�s headquarters in Oak Brook, Ill is now considering outsourcing 
          13,000 Franchisees to the Colorado source.&nbsp; </font></p>

          he first ordered a pizza and then asked for an employment application, 
          while completing the form, he pulled out a gun and demanded the money

          the application blank behind with his name and address.</font></p>
