The mission of the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) within the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is to assure the safety and wholesomeness of the nation�s dairy products, plant foods, beverages, seafood, dietary supplements, infant formula, medical foods, food and color additives, and all ingredients that come into contact with foods.  Among CFSAN�s priority activities supporting its mission is to provide consumer protection from food spoilage outbreaks with public health significance associated with commercially packed low-acid canned foods and acidified foods.  In accordance with FDA regulations, both foreign and domestic food processors of low-acid canned foods and acidified foods must register their firms with FDA and file their scheduled processes.  

AAT data entry operators support the registration process by performing the following administrative services:

�	Data enters, proofreads, and corrects as necessary initial registration forms and process filing forms
�	Designates batches of forms ready for computer master file update
�	Opens, date stamps, and sorts incoming mail
�	Retrieves hard copies of files returned to firms for clarification and attaches the copies to forms resubmitted by the firms
�	Matches and assigns food codes by comparing uncoded food names with previously coded food names
�	Mails FDA forms and instructions in response to written or telephone requests
�	Reviews, photocopies, mails and files already formulated requests for missing data or clarification
�	Photocopies computer generated process evaluation letters, prepares mailing packages and file folders, and updates status ledgers
