<p><font color="#0080FF" size="6">Principles of Operation</font></p>
<p>The <strong>PC250 Reel Control</strong></font>
system components are: a <strong>control unit</strong>,
a <strong>coupler</strong>, and an <strong>antenna</strong>.<br>
With the release of our <strong>new series of <a href="250modant.htm">modular antennas</a></strong>, you now have
the choice whether to design and build your own antenna or to purchase
a pre-built, modular antenna. </p>
<p>The control unit generates an electrical signal that is applied to the coupler.
The coupler, which is electrically connected to the antenna, creates a sensing field
around the antenna.</p>
<p>The target material is then positioned in the field, so that the lowest point of
the loop is within the sensing field at its desired control level. Any change in the
distance of the material from the antenna causes a change in the electrical signal
transferred to the control unit. The control unit then converts that signal change
to a change in armature voltage (in the PC250) or a change in control voltage output
(in the PC251) – the effective result in both cases is a change in motor speed, either
up or down, which maintains the material at its set position.</p>
<p>The antenna and any shields can be easily constructed of flat metal stock or pipe,
