Speed Requirements - A speed of 6 RPM or higher is required
for operation of the motion detector. If the press camshaft,
drive-chain or drive-belt drive speed is slower than this, the
speed can be increased by means of a gearbox, sprocket or sheave
with the proper ratio.

Chain Drives - If the press has a chain-driven cam box,
connect the motion detector to this linkage. Fit the motion
detector with a sprocket that has same or fewer number teeth than
the drive sprocket. The number of teeth can be the same if the
speed of the drive sprocket is 6 RPM or greater; otherwise, the
number of teeth must be fewer.

Belt Drives - Belt-driven systems are acceptable, provided
there isn't excessive slippage. One-to-one coupling accuracy is
not necessary, but the system must provide reliable rotation in
excess of 6 RPM while the press is in motion.

Note
- When a chain or belt-driven system is used, the mounting
bracket for the motion detector must be tight,
rigid and unaffected by vibration from die contact or machine
stop. The chain or belt and sprocket or pulley must also be
tight. Any looseness in the drive path will result in erratic
motion signals and cause timing errors, nuisance alarms, or both.

Direct Drives - If the main shaft or the cam box is accessible,
it may be possible to attach the motion detector to it by direct
shaft, flexible coupling or a gear.

Electrical Connection - The motion detector comes with a 10' cable
which is connected to the terminals in the end of the motion
detector and terminals 13 & 14 on the control unit. If a
longer cable is required, any two-conductor cable may be used;
although, it is preferred that the cable be twisted-pair or
shielded.

Important - the cable from the motion
detector should be routed away from any other wires, to minimize
the possibility of noise problems.
