        1902-1981</span><br>
        <br>
        Self-taught, he begins as a decorator in 1931 working for Pierre Gouff&eacute; 
        who produces his pieces until 1942. He starts showing at the Salon d'Automne 
        in 1934 and at the Salon des Artistes D&eacute;corateurs in 1935. At the 
        Exposition internationale des Arts et Techniques in 1937 he designs chairs 
        with perforated metal backs and seats that are precursors of his future 
        work.<br>
        <br>
        Jean Roy&egrave;re is eclectic and imaginative, he designed forms that 
        are very personal and unexpected. nnovative, Roy?re had his furniture 
        made according to traditional artisan's techniques. <br>
        <br>
        In 1942, Jean Roy&egrave;re opens his own gallery at 184, rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honor?. 
        He creates branch offices in Cairo (1946), in Beirut (1947), and later 
        in Peru (1953) and in Iran (1958). In the Middle East he gets very important 
        commissions and works for royalty and heads of state. He decorates and 
        furnishes the French delegation in Helsinki (1951), his and his family's 
        residences in Saint-Tropez, Auray, Marly, and Baleric Islands, and some 
        spaces on the France (1962).<br>
        <br>
        He stopped working in 1970.
