Jesse Storie, born in Virginia about 1768 is found in the 1850 Kings Creek, Caldwell, County, NC census record. Mary (Polly) Carlton (1808-aft. 1880), d/o Carlton Esquire and Elizabeth Barlow (moved to MO)<P> In or about 1825, Joshua and John Storie,along with their wives' families moved to Ashe County, North Carolina, one settling at the William Gragg place and the other near Blowing Rock. The Storie's eventually settled at what is now known as Bailey's Creek, where Thomas H. The homes of the Stories were open to the Federal soldiers and sympathizers, and the women of the families often waded the streams to carry food to outlyers, Bettie and Lucy once taking a wounded Yankee to Coffey's Gap in the night on an old horse, while on another occasion they hunted and found the body of a man named Hines, who had been killed by the Home Guard, and buried it decently.<P> -----------<P> Children of Eli Storie and Mary (Polly) Carlton<BR> Selena Storie (abt.1829-aft. 1880) m.
