NC in 1797. Tate (abt. 1816-?) m. Rebecca Steel<P> Francis Tate married Sarah Davies in 1837, Surry Co. NC. We don't have an exact death date for Francis, but he appears in the 1860 Forsyth Co. census and is not listed in the death index, which goes to June 1, 1860. In September 1864, Sally Tate, presumably Francis Tate's widow, married <A HREF="peddy1.html">Andrew Jackson Peddicord</A>. They appear in the Forsyth Co. census together in 1870 and 1880, but we don't have death dates for either.<P> The will of Sarah Hunter Kreeger (1859), sister of Elizabeth Hunter Tate, names Julia Tate, Susan Tate, Sally Tate (specifically identified in the will as Francis Tate's wife, but mis-transcribed as Polly in the abstract book published by the Forsyth Co. genealogical society; thanks to Ann Holladay for this correction).
