His will refers to five daughters and three sons, and names all but one of them. His wife was Nancy Clayton, who is not named in the will, and therefore probably died before 1820, when the will was written. Doub family materials refer to him as a doctor, and state that Archibald and Nancy came to North Carolina from Rhode Island about 1810.
