<H4>First Generation</H4>

<B>
Carl Gotthold Reichel and his wife Anna Dorothea Maass (1755-1806) arrived in Salem in 1802, with two grown children.  Carl Gotthold became the pastor of the Salem congregation.  In 1809 he accompanied his newly married daughter Sophia Seidel to Pennsylvania, and while there married his second wife, Catharina Fetter.  He returned to Salem with Catharina later that year, but in 1811 they moved back to Pennsylvania to stay.<P>
