This town is near Flensborg, which is on the present-day German-Danish border. He arrived in Salem in 1806, where he began work immediately as a cabinet-maker. In 1816 he married Anna or Agnes Susanna Praezel (1787-1856), daughter of <A HREF="sett4.html">Gottfried Praezel</A> and <A HREF="sett1.html">Maria Elisabeth Engel</A>. Karsten Petersen died in 1857 and is buried in Salem.<P> <HR> <H4>Second Generation</H4> Children of Karsten Petersen and Susanna Praezel<BR> William Praezel Peterson (1817-1898) m. Paulina Delphina Stoltz (1836-1876), d/o <A HREF="stolz.html">Johann Jacob Stoltz</A> and Maria "Polly" Geiger.<BR> Maria Theresa Peterson (1820-1902) did not marry<BR> *Henrietta Louise Peterson (1823-1847) m. Rev. Johann Adam Friebele <BR> Caroline Emilie Peterson (1825-1826)<BR> James Edward Peterson (1827-1906) m. <A HREF="vogler.html">Martha Virginia Vogler</A> (1836-1907), d/o Nathaniel Vogler</A> and Mary Fishel.<P> *Johann Adam Friebele was a Moravian missionary to Jamaica. Henrietta went with him to Jamaica after their marriage, but died only four years later. They had two children there, William Henry (1845-1865) and Henrietta Sara Elizabeth (1847-1865; died in Salem). In 1850, William and Sarah E. "Frubily", ages 5 and 3, are living with Karsten and Susan Peterson. <P> <HR> <H4>Third Generation</H4> Children of William Praezel Peterson and Paulina Stoltz<BR> William Jacob Peterson (1863-1916) m.
