Can anyone take us further back? He married Johanna Gertraut Hauser (1792-1859) in 1818 in Bethania, NC. The Moravian diaries note that he "does not belong to us". He doesn't appear in the 1850 census, so probably died before then.

Second Generation
Children of John Kearney and Johanna Gertraut Hauser
Ridelphia Kearney (1818-1875) m. Allen Timotheus Ackerman (1818-1862)
Alexander Kearney (1819-1894) m. Anna Carolina Rothrock (1817-1899)
Edwin Wesley Kearney (1823-1887) m. Mary Holder (1838-1914)
(Were there other children?)

Third Generation
Children of Alexander Kearney and Anna Carolina Rothrock
Mary C. In the 1860 Forsyth County census, Sarah is 8 and Emma P. is 6. In 1870 Emma is 16, and in 1880 she is 23. However, she may be duplicated in 1880; there is another Emma Kearny (Kerney) age 25, a servant in the home of Romulus Cox in Bethania. We suspect that Sarah is the older and that she was actually born a couple of years earlier.
----------
Children of Edwin Wesley Kearney and Mary Holder
John H. Kearney (1867-1963) m.
