Records reveal that in 1912 Gustav Kuhn's "whereabouts at present are unknown to the society" and in July of the same year, Helen was adopted by A. Eugene and Eliza D. Dillenback of New Albany, Bradford Co., NY. The adoption took place in the Court of Common Pleas, Bradford, PA in July 1912. Several years later Helen learned that her brother (name unknown) had graduated from law school and was practicing law in Philadelphia. She went to Philadelphia by herself on a train to find her brother; she was not successful.
In the 1920 Federal Census for Bradford Co, Wyalcusing Township, on Taylor Ave., I found Helen Dillenbeck. She was fifteen years old, listed as a servant to the family of Harold J. Graves. Mr. Graves had a wife, Iva, who was 28 years of age. Two children are listed, Gerthine, age 1 year and 9 months and Frances J., age 4 months, all born in PA. Why she was living with this family no one knows. Maybe they were neighbors and she helped with the children. Helen died in 1961 not knowing the christian names of her biological parents or the whereabouts of her brother who was adopted into a different family and in a county other than Bradford.

Children of Raymond Ward and Helen Kuhn Dillenbeck
Lewis Ward (1923) m.
