The Salem tailor Johann Joachim Hagen (1771-1844) was born in Prussia, and came first to Lititz PA, and then to Salem in April 1814.  He married <A HREF="lick.html">Susanna Lick</A> (1787-1853) in December of that year.

<H4>Third Generation</H4>

Francis Florentin Hagen became a Moravian minister.  He moved from NC to Pennsylvania in 1854, and died at Lititz in 1907.  <P>

He was the author of "Morning Star", traditionally sung antiphonally by a child soloist and the congregation at the Christmas Eve Lovefeast, as lighted beeswax candles are distributed to the congregation.<P>
