[Records of the Moravians in NC 7:3086]. In October 1811 he married <A HREF="nissen.html">Johanna Elisabeth Nissen</A> (1787-1864), daughter of Toego Nissen and Maria Salome Meurer. Fries was Archivist of the Moravian Church in America, Southern Province. She was the editor of the first eight volumes of the Records of the Moravians in North Carolina, an incomparable collection of material translated from the original church diaries, and author of several other books.
