<h1>Project Spotlight: Basilica of the National Shrine
of the Immaculate Conception</h1>
<p><strong>E.C. Ernst</strong> participated as the original electrical contractor for construction of the Crypt Church from 1920 – 1926. We continued providing electrical engineering and construction support for the Upper Church from 1953 -1959. </p>
<p>We have performed all of the electrical work supporting over 70 oratory requests, including:</p>
<ul>
<li>Installed exterior dome lighting system </li>
<li> Replaced chiller building switchboard </li>
<li> Replaced fire alarm system</li>
<li> Upgraded interior lighting systems </li>
<li> Installed control and dimming systems </li>
<li> Installed cabling systems for TV broadcasting, computer systems and new sound systems </li>
<li>Installed electric bell striker system</li>
<li>Installed landscape lighting</li>
</ul>
<p>The interior of this facility is all concrete and marble making concealment of conduit, wiring systems and recessed lighting systems very challenging. <strong>E.C. Ernst</strong> successfully completed all of these activities and we continue to maintain a daily presence at the Shrine for ongoing electrical support. This facility is open 365 days a year. </p>
