<div class="Body_Text"> <span class="Title_Text">Textbook Evaluation Process</span>
<p class="text"> </p>
<p class="text">Duvall Consulting Group’s evaluation process entails the following three steps:<br /><br/>
1. Upon a school district’s acceptance of DCG’s evaluation proposal, the district will complete a preliminary data request form that indicates general student body and school information, projections for student population growth (or reduction), and total text book purchases. <br /><br/>
2. Next, DCG conducts a 2-3-day on-site visit during which a detailed review is performed. In addition to taking a representative sampling of the district’s textbook inventory at several schools, the on-site review typically includes the following:<br />
<ul>
<li>Surveys to relevant school personnel regarding individual user needs</li>
<li>Interviews with key district personnel, including individual school representatives</li>
<li>An evaluation of the effectiveness of:</li>
<ul>
<li>The district’s textbook needs determination, and textbook purchasing and control through the adoption cycle</li>
<li>Inventory activity and frequency</li>
<li>Determination and utilization of excess textbook inventory</li>
<li>Textbook warehousing and storage</li>
<li>Delivery programs involving all textbook formats: printed, e-books and digital books and materials</li>
<li>Elimination of off-adoption textbooks via used-book wholesalers and recycling</li>
</ul>
</ul>
3. Once the site visit has been completed, DCG reviews and analyzes the information it collected and develops a report that outlines the results. The report includes:
<ul>
<li>A summary of the findings, highlighting strengths and weaknesses of the current textbook operation and benchmarks as compared to the industry and also to the district’s potential as it relates to textbook asset management</li>
<li>An approximate textbook inventory total based on data collected through specific school inventories</li>
<li>An approximate excess textbook inventory total based on the average per-student excess inventory </li>
<li>Results of the school personnel survey</li>
<li>A summary of the school district’s financial position and the needs for its textbook operation</li>
<li>A look at future needs regarding the critical control of digital materials and e-books.</li>
</ul></p>
<p class="text">With the comprehensive report in hand, school district administrators are able to see first-hand how effectively their textbook assets are managed. From there, decisions can be made in terms of changes to be implemented and overall management of the school district’s textbook operations.</p>
