<p>Dr. Griffith, an Associate Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine, is the Director of the Biostatistics Research Center and Senior Statistician in the Division of Clinical Care Research at New England Medical. Since 1982 he has worked with Dr. Selker in the construction and validation of predictive instruments for cardiac care, including the development of the ACI-TIPI, the AMI and congestive heart failure predictive instruments, and the thrombolytic predictive instrument. He recently was the senior statistician for two large prospective controlled clinical trials assessing the impact on emergency department decision making of the Thrombolytic Predictive Instrument and for the use of Sestamibi scans.
<br><br>Recent collaborative work includes investigations on pacemaker interference from wireless telephones, parent and clinician perceptions of ventilator withdrawal at the end-of-life in the pediatric intensive care unit, interventions to reduce adolescent violence, factors related to the development of antibiotic resistance, attributes of patient and physician communication, and analyses of cytomegalovirus and fungal disease in liver transplant recipients.
<br><br>Dr. Griffith is a co-principal investigator for the Assessing New Mathematical Models for Medical Events, an NLM funded grant comparing different modeling methods for prediction of medical outcomes, and was the principal investigator for Evaluation of Performance Measures for Predictive Models, an
AHRQ funded grant developing and investigating appropriate statistical procedures for assessing predictive model performance. He also is involved in research training for clinical fellows at Tufts-New England Medical Center and teaches biostatistics at Tufts University.</p>
