			<H2><A HREF="boats.html">Will Lightning Strike Yet Again?</A></H2>
			<P>It certainly has before, on at least <B>41</B> occasions! Portland Harbour, near
			Weymouth, Dorset has long been host to National and World speed sailing records.
			From its inception in 1972, and continuing every Autumn since, this magic spot has
			drawn the World's best. Many left their mark here, written indelibly into the history
			books.<BR>

			VSPACE="6">The mighty Crossbow series set, and continually re-broke her own unlimited
			world speed record in these waters. World record hydrofoiler Icarus, with Princess
			Anne at the tiller, streaked down Portland's &quot;inshore course.&quot; The first
			sinker sailboards were developed for these waters, took the &quot;unlimited&quot;
			record away, and changed the way sailors think about boat size and boatspeed forever.<BR>
			<BR>
			This year, at least two <B>very</B> hot hydrofoilers were scheduled. Both have shown
			proven capability to sail fast enough to break Crossbow II's long standing National
			Unlimited Speedsailing record.<BR>

			Weymouth were continued!<BR>
