To the African Chagga tribe in Tanzania, the phrase Pol'e Pol'e means much more than its literal, English translation, "slowly,
slowly". It is, above all, a way of life, of taking one step at a
time in order to savor the moment, live to the utmost, by being present.
Regardless of one's outward pace, one can proceed Pol'e Pol'e, with patience
and respect for one's surroundings, for others and one's own human limitations.

The phrase Pole, Pole is used on the mountain to slow
your walking pace down so to avoid altitude mountain sickness and enjoy
your accent to the top of Africa.

For some, Pol'e Pol'e means pacing, for others it means
listening. It may evolve as an inward rhythm or an deep acceptance of
where we are and who we are. It may help us to scale a mountain, it may
center us in a business negotiation, it may teach us to grasp what a friend
is trying to tell us when words fail. No matter where we are, or what
we do, for each of us, Pol'e Pol'e is a continual, daily challenge.

So often we find ourselves rushing through life, so that
we miss all the beauty and wonder it has to offer. We also find that
due to our pride, ego and impatience, we stretch beyond our abilities
some times, until life humbles us and brings us back down to earth. If
we can apply this simple concept of tolerance, humility, and grace in
our every day lives, we will be on our way to Pol'e Pol'e.

Pole Pole is a way of life, enjoy the journey and
the destination will come to you.
