      <hr noshade size="1" color="#C0C0C0">
<p> <b><a name="1">1</a>. Why do I have white bars above and below my captured
image, or to the left and right side of the captured image?</b>
<p> In the initial stages of capturing an image, you are required to crop
the image with a moveable, adjustable cropping box. If you shape the box
as a square or make the horizontal length greater than the vertical length,
the accepted image will appear with white areas above and below it. Similarly,
if you size the cropping box to tall the accepted image appear with white
areas to either side of it. While this is not a problem, it may affect
how the image appears on the card. To fix this, capture an image into
the Image Capture dialog box. From the Setup drop-down menu, ensure Capture
Ratio Locked is not ticked. If it is grayed out, you will need permission
to use this feature &#150; ask the Administrator of FoxID32 to provide
you with access to this feature. Adjust the cropping box so that it is
slightly portrait shaped &#150; you can refer to the image box on the
right hand side of the screen as an indication of the required shape.
Accept the image and check for white areas. If the white areas are still
there, you will need to adjust the cropping box further so capture an
image again and re-adjust. Once the accepted image is of the correct proportions,
capture an image again but this time, from the Setup drop-down menu, ensure
Capture Ratio Locked is ticked. From now on, you will be able to adjust
the image cropping box size and position without affecting its proportions.
      <p> <a href="#top" class="sm">top of page</a>
      <p> <b><a name="2">2</a>. When I start FoxID32 it tells me that I'm in Evaluation
        Mode. What's wrong? </b>
<p> Evaluation mode indicates that the security dongle could not be found.
Close FoxID32 then attach the security dongle to the parallel port on
the rear of the PC. The dongle is a short device, roughly 4 x 5 cm in
size that screws directly into the back of your PC. If you have a printer
cable attached directly, unscrew that plug and place the FoxID32 dongle
on the port. Then screw the printer cable into the dongle. If your operating
system is Windows NT and the dongle is attached, the sentinel driver didn't
install correctly or did not self configure correctly. If you are experiencing
this or other unsolvable problems, first check whether you can print to
the printer from this port. If so, then the dongle may have failed. However,
in order to identify the dongle as the fault, install FoxID32 on another
PC running Windows 95 or 98 and check whether it will run correctly. If
it still starts in Evaluation Mode , then contact the distributor of FoxID32
        for a replacement dongle.

      <p> <b><a name="3">3</a>. I can't seem to logon! </b>
<p> Passwords are case sensitive, be weary of the Caps Lock button.
      <p> <a href="#top" class="sm">top of page</a>
      <p> <b><a name="4">4</a>. I have printed a barcode but the barcode reader
        won't recognise the data! What's wrong?</b>
<p> In your printer settings, ensure the K-panel graphics function is turned
on. If this doesn't fix it, try using K-panel Only. Test by printing the
card through a laser printer onto paper, and see if the barcode reader
can recognise the data. Contact your printer distributor for assistance.
      <p> <a href="#top" class="sm">top of page</a>
<p> <b><a name="5">5</a>. I am getting the Date and Time flashing within
the image capture screen, or the camera keeps cycling through a demonstration
        of features! </b>
<p> This occurs due to settings within the camera being used. You will need
to switch off "demo in standby" and switch off the Date and Time display.
Refer to your camera manual for instructions.
      <p> <a href="#top" class="sm">top of page</a>
<p> <b><a name="6">6</a>. How do I get the image capture function working
using a capture card and camcorder? </b>
<p> Check the video cable is not damaged and is secured tightly to the camera
'video out' and capture card 'video in'. Check camera is operating correctly
by looking through the viewfinder. Check image capture card is not dislodged.
Always install retaining screw when installing cards into the PC chassis.
Check the video settings are correct, ie. PAL, 24-bit colour, YUV 422
or RGB 24. Perhaps the capture card driver is no longer functioning correctly,
in this case re-install the driver.
      <p> <a href="#top" class="sm">top of page</a>
      <p> <b><a name="7">7</a>. Why aren't cards printing when I select Issue
        Card? </b>
<p> Switch off the printer then close FoxID32 and restart the PC. Check
printer connections, check there are cards and ribbon in the printer and
that there is no card jam before switching the printer on. Check that
the printer driver is set to print to the correct port under Windows printer
settings. The parallel cable should be not more than 3 meters in length.
Failing the above, try printing a test page from the printer driver. If
this is unsuccessful, there is a problem with either the printer, or the
communication between the PC and the printer. Contact the printer distributor
        if problems persist.
      <p> <a href="#top" class="sm">top of page</a>
<p> <b><a name="8">8</a>. Why does the card numbering sort order sequence
        operate as 1, 10, 100 instead of 1, 2, 3 ? When exporting or batch printing
a sequence of records, the wrong records are exported or printed. </b>
<p> The Card Number field in the FoxID32 database is a text field -type.
This allows the user to input alphanumeric values such as FOX1234 or 8989-WEST
instead of plain numbers. While this allows custom card numbering, computers
cannot count alphanumeric values the same way it counts number-only field
types. Hence it will count 1, 10, 100. There are a number of ways to get
around this if it presents a problem, choose one or more of the options
        below:
<p> a) Add card numbers that are all three or four digits long. Eg. 005,
888 etc. b) From the Database drop-down menu, choose Sort Order then Last
Name so the database will sort alphabetically by the Surname.
<p> c) Add an additional field and make it a Whole Number field type. Into
this field you can type in a the number you wish to use as a reference
by which to search, export or print.
<p> d) When batch printing or exporting you may use another field in your
database as the common criteria from which to select records. An example
is to use Card Issued = 0 and Image = Yes which will select all records
which have not been printed yet and have a captured image.
<p> e) If there are no common criteria from which to select a group of records
for printing or exporting, use the Search Criteria: Card Number = xxx,
then choose the OR radio button and enter the next card number. To perform
this with a large number of records, a quick way is to set the keyboard
Num Lock on, then using the number keypad, after adding the first number
and selecting OR, place your cursor back in the Value box and type in
the next number and press Enter. Type in each number followed by Enter
        all the time using the number keypad alone.&nbsp;
