<h1><strong>Peter Van Du and Edward Everett Project Committee member Armando Gaitan dressed as pears in the Dorchester Day Parade, 2004</strong></h1>
<p>Baring-Gould developed additional opportunities for community engagement by working with UMass interns Lia Rousett and Amy Grasso to create pear costumes for the Dorchester Day Parade. Community residents and UMass students danced the entire length of Dorchester Ave dressed as pears, bringing smiles and delight to youth and adults alike. Most importantly, people of all cultural backgrounds along the parade route appreciated the pears. With this information, Baring-Gould felt confident that the pear, as a well-recognized object, would be appreciated by the people of Dorchester.<br /></p>
