<a href="http://www.utbioenergy.org/TNBiofuelsInitiative/" target="_blank">The University of Tennessee</a></h3>
<p>The University of Tennessee Biofuels Initiative (UTBI) is a state-sponsored plan which aims to:</p>
<ul>
<li>Decrease our dependency on imported oil</li>
<li>Generate rural economic development </li>
<li>Increase domestic energy production within Tennessee</li>
<li>Jump-start a new bioenergy industry in the state </li>
</ul>
<p>Building on the success of the DuPont demonstration scale cellulosic ethanol plant in Vonore, Tennessee, the facility will now convert from corn stover to switchgrass. (Key advantages are that it requires little rain and is harvested during the winter months of the agricultural calendar.)</p>

<h3><a href="http://www.generaenergy.net/" target="_blank">Genera Energy</a></h3>
<p>Genera Energy was formed in 2008 by the University of Tennessee Research Foundation to implement the business operations of the University of Tennessee Biofuels Initiative. </p>
<p>DuPont has been working with Genera in Vonore to optimize and develop cost-effective production technology of advanced biofuels. Ethanol produced in Vonore is being used to operate a UT Motor Pool fleet of 250 flex-fuel minivans.</p>
<h2><strong>Iowa State University and Iowa corn producers</strong></h2>
<p>For the last 3 years we have been working closely with 50 Central Iowa corn producers, harvest service experts, several equipment manufacturers, and Iowa State University to research and optimize the <a href="feedstock.html">collection, transport and storage of biomass</a>. <br />
</p>
<p>As a result, DuPont will begin construction in 2012 of a new commercial scale biorefinery in Nevada, Iowa. This will have the capacity to produce more than 27 million gallons of ethanol from non-food biomass such as corn stover, providing a valuable boost to the Central Iowa rural economy, new ‘green’ jobs, alternative revenue streams, and validated residue management advantages resulting from a directed partial stover harvest. </p>
