<h1>Iron Matters</h1>
<p>AMAG launched Iron Matters™ to help patients better understand the causes and impact of iron deficiency anemia (IDA). More than 4 million Americans have IDA, yet, according to a recent survey, few understand the condition. Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) causes fatigue, dizziness and irritability, among more serious complications, in millions of Americans, yet few talk to their health care providers about their symptoms. AMAG launched the Iron MattersTM campaign (<a href="http://www.ironmatters.com">www.ironmatters.com</a>) to spread the word about IDA, its underlying causes and the overall importance of iron's role in maintaining good health.</p>

<p>AMAG aspires to be a leading partner to the healthcare community by ensuring outstanding collaboration in supporting impactful <a href="#research">research</a> as well as supporting robust <a href="#education">education</a> efforts.</p>
<h2><a name="research" id="research"></a>Research</h2>
<p>The AMAG Medical Institute encourages important, clinically relevant, robust scientific research through its support of Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR). The guiding principles for the evaluation of ISR at AMAG:<ul>
<li>There is a robust hypothesis that addresses an important question</li>
<li>The study incorporates a design approach that addresses the hypothesis</li>
<li>The analysis plan has endpoints appropriate for the design given the working hypothesis</li>
<li>The investigator has the capability and experience to perform excellent research in a timely and quality fashion</li>
</ul>
We are currently accepting proposals for research in the following areas:
<ul>
<li>Kidney disease</li>
<li>Anemia</li>
<li>Iron metabolism and related diseases</li>
</ul>
The process begins with a request for an application. Following submission of your application, a thorough review will occur within 30 days. We will then contact you to inform you of the decision of the review team, or to request additional information. <h2><a name="education" id="education"></a>Education</h2>
<p>AMAG is a strong believer in sound medical education and accordingly considers requests for grants in support of Independent Medical Education (IME). To submit a request for IME funding please email <a href="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</a>.</p>
