<p>Kim Urquhart joined AMAG in 2012 and has recently been promoted to Product Manager. Learn more in our Q&A session with Kim.</p>
<h3><strong>Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where did you grow up? </strong></h3>
<p><em>Being a Navy Brat, I moved around quite a bit growing up. In my lifetime, I’ve been to a total of 12 different schools. I’ve lived in places as varied as Puerto Rico to Bethesda, Maryland, Jacksonville, Florida, and Northern Virginia.</em></p>
<h3><strong>What is your educational background? </strong></h3>
<p><em>I am a very proud Virginia Tech Communications and Marketing graduate (GO HOKIES!) and I completed my Master’s in Integrated Marketing Communications at Emerson College in Boston.</em></p>
<h3><strong>When did you first know that you wanted to work in the field of marketing within the biotech industry?</strong></h3>
<p><em>I am profoundly interested in both what drives businesses and what drives human behavior-I couldn’t think of a better field to be knee-deep in both.</em></p>
<p><em>The child of two healthcare professionals, I have always had an interest in medicine, but not necessarily practicing. Couple this interest with my excitement for driving the growth of businesses and human behavior, and biotech is the perfect industry for me.</em></p>
<h3><strong>What do you most enjoy about your current job? </strong></h3>
<p><em>My job allows me to influence how people who are suffering from truly debilitating diseases are treated. If affords me the opportunity to educate clinicians, patients, and the community about the impacts of diseases that may be otherwise overlooked. </em></p>
<p><em>On a personal note, I genuinely like the people I work with and enjoy coming to work every day. We not only make each other laugh, but constantly challenge each other to be confident that we are doing the best job possible. A work environment that mixes fun with accountability is something that I value and think is a rare find.</em></p>
<h3><strong>What would you most love to be doing in 10 years?</strong></h3>
<p><em>In 10 years, I would love to be focusing my marketing knowledge and energies on building collaborative partnerships with organizations that focus on patient care and advocacy, enabling AMAG to continually perpetuate and enhance its commitment to patients.</em></p>
<h3><strong>Tell about some of your interests/hobbies outside of AMAG? </strong></h3>
<p><em>My interests outside of work vary greatly and center mostly around my family and friends. I love to cook, garden, run and entertain and am a voracious reader.</em></p>
<h3><strong>What’s something most people don’t know about you?</strong></h3>
<p><em>I am passionate about sustainable living and finding and/or creating beauty and value in things that we may already have. To that end, I refinish furniture and am always on the hunt for beautiful vintage or antique pieces that can be rehabbed and brought back to life. I have been extremely fortunate that by putting my work “out there” on the internet other people with similar interests have found me and have commissioned several pieces of work. This commissioned work allows me to feed my passion and is a more practical outlet since I live in a small condo in Boston.</em> </p>
