<h1>Understanding the Real World via Retrospective Analysis </h1>
<h2>Why Analyze Real World Data? </h2>
<p>Real world data sources provide a comprehensive picture of health care practice and associated clinical outcomes and costs. Retrospective analyses provide a practical alternative to the cost and extended duration of prospective studies. They have the benefit of representing actual, real world patients and conditions, without the restrictive limitations of a clinical trial.</p>
<p>The ABS team has analyzed retrospective data to accomplish several objectives:</p>
<ul>
<li>Assess the occurrence of acute and chronic diseases</li>
<li>Understand the characteristics of patients who have certain diseases or undergo certain procedures</li>
<li>Evaluate physician and hospital practice patterns over time and across patient groups and geographic regions</li>
<li>Evaluate the cost of acute or chronic diseases and differences in costs over time and across patient groups or geographic regions</li>
</ul>
<p>The findings from these analyses have been used to increase awareness of the clinical and economic impact of the targeted indication(s) among relevant audiences, such as physicians, other health care providers, public and private health care authorities, and decision-makers responsible for the delivery and financing of health care. ABS ensures that study results are of sufficiently high quality so as to warrant publication in indexed, peer-reviewed medical journals and for presentation at scientific meetings.</p>
