The Order has members from all of the world's major religious faiths, including Judaism, Christianity, Islam, the Bahai Faith, Sufism, Zoroastrianism, Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism, Shinto, and Zen.

The Order of Bels is a contemplative and ecumenical organization concerned with spiritual formation, which is inherently God-centered and not personality-centered. Thus the work of the Order is conducted through its members not by virtue of what they say or do, but by virtue of how they live their lives, through character and consciousness. Members simply endeavor to live according to spiritual principles.

Each member of the Order endeavors to live according to the ethical and moral teachings of his or her faith. Those teachings are remarkably similar among the various religious and spiritual traditions. Among these basic principles are honesty, harmlessness, and humility. Members of the Order endeavor to live gently and treat every human being with kindness. Of course many religious and spiritual peoples endeavor to embrace these principles. Members of the Order do not separate themselves from others, but simply live earnestly and spiritually, to the best of their abilities. It is a matter of actively living in spiritual consciousness, endeavoring to maintain one's spiritual focus throughout every waking moment. It is, in essence, what all the great spiritual teachers have encouraged us to do, but which relatively few take to heart.

Members have discovered for themselves that within the mystical core of every true religion, one who truly seeks God will find God and one who seeks truly will find Christ-consciousness, regardless of what it may be called. Thus members of the Order simply recognize Christ within every human being. The sense of separation that one naturally feels in ego-consciousness dissolves in union, or communion, with God.<BR>
