Needham Youth Commission offers a Babysitter Training Seminar for new
babysitters or for those with limited experience who desire a refresher class.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</span>The Babysitter Training Seminar is six hours and is offered as a three-day session.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>The
class focuses on preparing youth to take on babysitting responsibilities.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</span>Participants take a personal inventory of their interests and skills that
will enhance their role as babysitter. Tips and techniques for interviewing for
the job are reviewed.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Also
emphasized is safety in caring and playing with children on the job.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</span>Topics such as toy selection, food preparation, bed and bath time
routines and diapering are also explored.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Participants
will learn basic first aid and safety procedures.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>The focus is on preventing emergencies whenever possible, and being
prepared to handle the unexpected.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>

who successfully complete a final examination will receive certificate status
that they have �graduated� from a babysitting program.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</span>Further, students who desire babysitting employment are encouraged to
register with the Youth Commission�s Employment Program (and can proudly state
on their data form that they have graduated from our seminar).<o:p>
