2:00PM Friday April 28 , 2006 there was a natural gas explosion at the
intersection of Webster Street and Harris Avenue, and a half-mile
evacuation issued. Pollard Middle School students were kept in the
Middle School until is was determined that the situation had stabilized.
At that point the students were evacuated through the DeFazio Fields.
Buses had been rerouted to the Defazio Fields to take those non-walkers
home. Parents who typically transport their children from the
Pollard Middle School have been asked to please pick their children up
at the DeFazio Fields. For more information please contact the
