Introduction

The Ridge Hill Reservation is a local recreation area which includes miles of hiking, cross county skiing trails and bridle paths as well as a fitness trail and picnic area. The Reservation is home to the Morse-Bradley Estate House which is available for various social functions as well as meetings and conferences.

The Reservation's roots began with John Torrey Morse, III. In 1906 he built a tan stucco house (later renamed the Morse-Bradley Estate House) which is one of the Reservation's most prominent features. In 1929, J. Gardner Bradley purchased the estate from Mr. Morse. When Mr. Bradley died in 1971 , his grandson offered to sell the estate to the Town of Needham for conservation purposes. The Town purchased the 222 acres for recreation with state and federal funding. Following the initial purchase, an additional 30 acres were acquired to allow access to the river. In 1989, the Reservation was expanded an additional 78 acres through an override vote of the town's citizens. In 1991, Needham was given another 27 acres. Today the Reservation's focus is the maintenance of its current holdings.

In order to ensure the Reservation's continued preservation, the reservation was place under the jurisdiction of the Conservation Commission of Needham. The Conservation Commission oversees all aspects of the reservation and is dedicated to the continued enjoyment of the Reservation by the general public.
