Wednesday, April 4, 2001 was the starting date of the mercury thermometer
exchange program. During the ongoing program the residents of Needham
are able to exchange their mercury thermometers at either the Recycling
Transfer Station Office or the Board of Health Office located at 1471
Highland Avenue on the second floor. The mercury thermometer exchange
program will continue pending the availability of digital
thermometers.</font><font face="Verdana"><span style="font-size:13.0pt"> </span></font></p>

mercury bearing devices from a home, they may be disposed of at the
Recycling & Transfer Station (RTS) at 1421 Central Avenue, free of
charge (A disposal sticker is required to access the facility) at the
Universal Waste Shed. Other items containing mercury include but not
limited to: button batteries, fluorescent bulbs, compact fluorescent
bulbs, rechargeable batteries, thermometers and PCB Ballast.</font></p>
