AAS/AIAA Astrodynamics Specialist Conference
Girdwood, Alaska

The 2011 Astrodynamics Specialist Conference, hosted by the American Astronautical Society (AAS) and cosponsored by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) will be held July 31 - August 4, 2011 at The Hotel Alyeska in Girdwood, Alaska. The conference is organized by the AAS Space Flight Mechanics Committee and the AIAA Astrodynamics Technical Committee.

Hotel and Reservations

The Hotel Alyeska in Girdwood, Alaska is currently accepting reservations. The direct line for reservations is (907) 754-2111 or (800) 880-3880. To receive the group rate and be properly associated with this conference, please identify yourself as part of the 'American Astronautical Society of Flight Mechanics' or use the group code 'AAH14D'. The negotiated rate is guaranteed at the government per diem (currently $181/night) plus applicable taxes Our group has negotiated a special reservations/cancellation policy that allows guest to reserve a room with a credit card guarantee only (i.e. the card is recorded but no charges occur at the time of reservation). Guests can cancel prior to 72 hours upon arrival with no penalty. If a guest cancels after this 72 hour deadline or is a no-show, the credit card will be charged the full amount of 1 night's room, tax, and resort fee.

The reservations office is supposed to be well informed of our group and the associated room rates. Despite assurances from the hotel, we have had occasional issues with guests having problems with the room reservations. The liaison suggested that as an additional safeguard, guest can always email [email protected] if they have issues (and cc [email protected]).

**warning: the hotel room block reserved for our conference is fully booked or very close to fully booked, you may want to call the hotel (800-880-3880) to inquire about the current availability/wait list and/or find other accommodations (updated July 11, 2011).

Abstract and Manuscript Submissions

Abstracts are to be submitted through a web based abstract submittal system. Using the web based system, authors will submit their abstract, author information and preprint before the conference. Authors will also use this site to submit their final manuscript after the conference. The abstract submittal system can be accessed by clicking on Abstract and Manuscript Submission. The Call For Papers has detailed instructions. Abstract submission is open as of March 1, 2011. The abstract submission deadline is April 5, 2011.

Abstract Notification Update: The abstract acceptance and rejection decisions were emailed to the corresponding authors on May 2nd, 2011. However, some submissions contain a corresponding author email which is not accepting new emails due to the inbox quota being exceeded, or the SPAM filter rejecting our emails. If you have not received your abstract confirmation, please contact a Technical Chair.

Online Conference Registration

The conference registration site is expected to begin accepting registrations for this conference on May 17, 2011.

Attendees to the conference are encouraged to utilize the online registration system.
Click on Online Conference Registration.
Registering online will provide several benefits. You will avoid the lines at the registration table and you will have free access to preprints. Free access to preprints will only be available to people registering through the online system. Registering online will also reduce the workload on the conference organizers. Attendees may still register in person at the registration table.

The online registration system is programmed to accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express credit cards.

Attendees may still register in person at the registration table.
