Clearwater, Florida (Hall/Kluever)</b></span><span style='layout-grid-mode:
line;mso-fareast-language:EN-US'> Chris Hall reported that 147 people attended
the conference.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>This covered the
cost of all the rooms, and we incurred no penalties.<span style="mso-spacerun:
yes"> </span>The dinner theatre on Tuesday night only sold about 65
tickets.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>We were able to work with
the hotel and performing crew to limit extra food and expenses and the event
was covered.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>There were 1462
papers sold, and 27 copies of the proceedings.<span style="mso-spacerun:
yes"> </span>Total income was $33492, resulting in about a $2500 profit
for the conference.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Craig Kluever
reported that 109 papers were received for the conference.<span
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>106 were in the program, consisting of
15 sessions and 2 special sessions.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</span>3 papers were withdrawn, and there was 1 no show.<span
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Craig reported that email was used
exclusively for the conference, and that the process had worked quite
well.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>We had a discussion
concerning the submission of abstracts for future conferences by email.<span
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Options included text abstracts and PDF
extended abstracts, file attachments for all correspondence, and the use of
templates. We did not resolve the issue, although WORD document templates
seemed to have general support. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

that astrodynamics portion had 14 sessions over 3.5 days (Aug. 14-17).<span

Denver Marriott Technology Center.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</span>He also reported that 100 abstracts were submitted, 2 were withdrawn,
and 1 cancelled (so far).<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>97
Abstracts were accepted for the initial program (25 Feb).<span
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>The astrodynamics sessions successfully
reserved two adjacent, medium size rooms (~80 people) for the sessions to
minimize travel time between papers.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</span>This worked quite well.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>6
papers were withdrawn before the final program.<span style="mso-spacerun:
yes"> </span>65 were published in the proceedings, and 26 were not in
time.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>8 were withdrawn by the
conference, and there were 3 no shows, at this time.<span style="mso-spacerun:
yes"> </span>The last astrodynamics session was moved (2 papers) into

for Feb.11-14, 2001 at the Radisson Hotel in Santa Barbara, California.<span

are already out.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>The rates are
$190 for members, $235 for non-members, and $40 for students.<span
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>A long discussion ensued about the
rates and how we treat non-members, and whether or not we require them to pay
for a years membership.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>If we do
include the year membership, the general consensus seemed to be that we should
charge the entire $85 difference, but there were several objections.<span
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Since the literature is already out, we
cannot change this conference, but we need to adopt a uniform policy to
eliminate confusion in future conferences.<span style="mso-spacerun:

the paper is submitted to the Journal of Astronautical Sciences and, after
review, is accepted for publication, the Space Flight Mechanics committee will
pay the page charges up to a maximum of $1000."<span style="mso-spacerun:

yes"> </span>The first conference where this will take effect will be the

standard format for AAS conference papers and Journal of Astronautical Sciences

with Bob Jacobs, who produces the conferences proceedings, to work out the
details.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Any format changes are
expected to be implemented at the same time that instructions for authors are
published for paper submissions on computer disks.<span style="mso-spacerun:
yes"> </span>Discussions are ongoing between the journal and AAS
headquarters to formalize a process to submit papers to the journal on computer
disks.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>The estimated cost savings
will be 10-15%.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </span>Savings on page
charges will be passed on to the authors.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</span>Kathie will submit future reports to the committee to keep us appraised
