<h2> Abstract </h2>
 This paper presents a Modification of Beard and James' Detection Filter for  detecting and identifying faults in Linear Time Invariant Control Systems.  This  Modification permits an easier and more reliable identification of sensor faults.   Even a single filter can identify faults in any independent sensor and in some  actuators.  Tests have been carried out to illustrate the filter performance and  the way to adjust the filter parameters.  The test results demonstrate the validity  of this Modification in detecting and identifying such faults.
