<h2> Abstract </h2>
The Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) Flight Dynamics Division is responsible for generating and transmitting Ground Network and Space Network (SN) acquisition data for all Space Shuttle mission phases, including all contingency cases. These acquisition data are necessary for tracking and maintaining communications with the Shuttle Orbiter. This paper describes the various Shuttle contingencies, discusses the generation of acquisition date; and traces the development of enhancements to improve the quality of contingency acquisition data. The application of the techniques and procedures developed for Shuttle support to other SN users is also discussed.
