AAS 95-398

Recursive Formulation in Multibody Elastodynamics: Simulation and Ground Test

A. K. Banerjee, Lockheed Palo Alto Research Lab., Palo Alto, CA

Abstract
This paper reviews a computationally efficient recursive formulation of the equations of motion of a system of hinge-connected flexible bodies undergoing large rotation and translation together with small elastic vibration. The formulation accounts for geometric stiffness due to inertia forces and torques as well as interbody forces and torques on an elastic body in a non-iterative manner. Application of the theory to loads analysis in the deployment of an antenna is compared to test results
