<p>Ippokratis Kantzios was born and raised in Greece. In 1980 he received his
Law Degree from the University of Thessaloniki and soon afterwards emmigrated
to the United States where he re-oriented his education. He received a BA
in English Literature (Saint Joseph's University, 1986), an MA in Education
(Temple University, 1988), and a PhD in Classics (Bryn Mawr College, 1996).
Previous to his current appointment, he taught at the Hellenic-American Academy
in Upper Darby, PA (1992-1994), and Richard Stockton College of New Jersey
(1996-2000). Since Fall of 2000, he has been teaching at the University of
South Florida as the Peter and Sophia Kourmolis Professor of Greek Language
and Literature. Dr. Kantzios has received a number of awards for academic
excellence; his work concentrates mostly on archaic Greek literature and teaching
methodologies in classical and biblical Greek. He was the scholar-advisor
of Steven Pressfield's best-selling historical novels <i>Gates of Fire</i>,<i>
Tides of War and Amazoneum</i>. He has served as President of the Classical
Humanities Society of South Jersey, and Director of the Study Abroad Program
at Stockton College. Among his other activities, he is the Advisor of the
Hellenic Society at the University of South Florida. <br>
