<p> <b>John G. Hatsios </b>was born in Kozani and raised in Thessaloniki, Macedonia,
Greece, the land of Alexander the Great. He migrated to the United States
in the mid-195O's after graduating from the First Gymnasium for Boys in Thessaloniki,
Greece. Like most newcomers, he first worked in his uncle's restaurant in
Buffalo, New York. He later attended the University of Buffalo School of Engineering,
in Buffalo New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical
Engineering. While attending the School of Engineering, he also enrolled in
few classes in ancient Greek, selections from Homer's Odyssey, and the Bible.
He spent most of his professional career with IBM in its Large Computer Systems
Center in Poughkeepsie, New York, which is the largest IBM facility in the
world. In 1965 he married the former Theodora Camesas and they made their
home and started their new family in Poughkeepsie, located in New York' s
beautiful Hudson Valley. His wife is a graduate of the University of Athens,
in Greek Philology and Archeology. While working for IBM, he attended night
classes at Union College in Schenectady, New York where he earned a Masters
of Science in Management. His technical Leadership in the development and
manufacturing of large computer systems earned him the reputation of an outstanding
problem solver and an inventor. He was honored by IBM for his contributions
to the company several times. Among his awards, he received the coveted IBM
Corporate Outstanding Contribution Award and the IBM Invention Award. He was
a member of the IBM Mid-Hudson Valley Technical Inventions Review Committee,
for several years, up to his retirement. A long time member of the Kimisis
Greek Orthodox Church, where he served in the Parish Council for several years.
He also served as a committee member and then Chairman of the Hellenic Center
a for profit facility of the Church. He was the co-founder of the very successful
yearly Hellenic Festival in the Mid-Hudson Valley. For a period of five years
he was the Youth Coordinator for all Church athletic and social youth activities.
John and his wife, Theodora, have two children, George and Vicki. George,
a physician and his wife, Aliki, an attorney, reside in North Carolina. John
and his wife moved to Florida in mid-1997. Presently, they make their home
in the Trinity area of New Port Richey. They are members of the St. George
Greek Orthodox Church, New Port Richey. </p>
