Dr. I. Kantzios was born in Velvendo Kozanis in Greece, where he received a 
law degree from the University of Thessaloniki. Soon after, he came to America 
and obtained a BA in English Literature (St. Joseph's University), an MA in 
Education (Temple University) and a PhD in Classics (Bryn Mawr College). He 
has taught at the Hellenic American Academy in Upper Darby, PA, The Richard 
Stockton College of New Jersey, and USF, where he is the Peter and Sophia Kourmolis 
Professor of Greek Language and Literature. He has received a number of awards for 
academic excellence and teaching. His specializations are archaic Greek poetry 
and teaching methodologies. He was also scholar-advisor to Steven Pressfield's 
acclaimed historical novels. He has served as director of the Classical Humanities 
Society of South Jersey and director of Stockton's study abroad program. He is 
currently advisor to the USF Hellenic Society, and participates in their study 
abroad program as well.<br><br>
