major area of research that draws on a multiplicity of skills and
knowledge. You will study important materials properties, such
as, electrical conductivity (I/V), electrical impedance
spectroscopy (EIS), and adhesion of these novel sensory membranes
under various test conditions, such as exposure to gases and
vapors.

The
Project: The adsorption of DNA (oligo and cDNA) onto material
surfaces is of paramount importance in the development and
technological use of microfluidic devices and biochips. At ABTECH
we are engaged in the systematic and thorough study of the
interactions of DNA with different material surfaces. We have
developed "engineered surfaces" possessing specific
functional group chemistry and are studying the kinetics and
equilibrium adsorption of DNA onto these surfaces. You will study
the adsorption of oligomeric strands of DNA onto engineered
surfaces using Quartz Crystal Nanogravimetry (QCN) and Atomic
Force Microscopy (AFM). You will correlate these measurements
with dynamic contact angle wettability measurements.
